A lot of people say that Japanese Music will be a trend in england in the future or that it will become more popular or the "wall will be torn down"...
Problem is... Japanese music will never be popular in England etc due to the fact that it's too cutsie etc and just not the type of music the typical English person would enjoy...

The wall shall remain and I hope people get over their idea of it becoming popular.. because it isn't and infact sometimes when I watch Anime I hear adults and children alike saying it's the worst music they have heard.

I like it but fact is it will never become popular out of Japan.

I agree partially, but I wouldnt rule it out completely, Anyone here listened to K2G by Puffy ami yumi. there riff in that song sounds very british and reasonably catchy...in fact the whole Puffy ami Yumi music period in 03 on cartoon network led to the success of polysics, a band that are Japanese and are now touring with the Kaiser cheifs :/ so I wouldnt rule it out completely

Wait, how is Japanese music cutesie, unless you mean the mainstream stuff? O_O; Because I can tell you one thing, not all of it is cutesie, and not nearly enough of it is as annoying as mainstream music from Korea. OH MY EARS.

Then again, I like few artists. XD Japanese has a very lovelier sound. I'm picky with my music. I don't like X-JAPAN for the visual kei/metal portion, but I do love hIDE's music, former member of X-JAPAN before his death in 1998.

It's a matter of preference. I'll pick Finnish, Canadian, Japanese, and Russian music over American music any day. XD

Oh so your saying that Japanese Tune will never be Mainstream...oh I thought you meant they'd never catch on...Theres only a small possibility of You turning on your TV and seeing a Japanese band front lining the BBC, However Japanese Music has caught on over here before (In the late 70's early 80's) and Its still going on the underground circuit...in a way it mainstream for the underground.

Oh, wait, I'm not British. XD

I dunno. I find it pretty easy to find Japanese bands my British friends will like. I've actually made quite a few Brits close friends. lol They aren't exactly aware of a lot of bands. I find ones that suit their tastes. XD

Too bad none will like Kaya. I'd at least love for his fame to reach the States one day. Damn, he's only in his late 20s though, he's relatively unknown and I wouldn't have found him if it wasn't for a rather popular power metal VK band.

The deep underground :).

Sitting in the slipstream of big bands is usually the way small bands rise :P
They won't rise lol.

Obviously it won't hit it mainstream with people like you in the world :p

Japanese music is the same as British music. There's variety. It's not all the same cute stuff.

I liek rawk. :)

Well, I agree with you on that. But it is growing in popularity here in the USA as more an more people get into anime. In fact, I used to be one of the few who listen to J-music here in the city where I live, but now several of my friends and even some of their friends are listening to it because of the growth of anime watchers here.

I have a challenge for you all:
Go to camden town, in london, stay there for a day, go into as many shops as you can, then confidently say to me that there is a blanket we can group all the English under in terms of music and/or culture

I agree that J-music will never catch on in this country, but there will always be some people here who adore it and devote their lives to it :/

If you pay for the trip...lol, I'm broke. Though I would like to travel to England one day. But I'm sure that if the people down there who like anime and the music from Japan would try to open the minds of everyone they meet that England could come to love japanese music. After all, you have to start somewhere right?
